Most recent intern's responsibilities
The Product Development Intern develops and executes product, based on the off price business model and upon vision and void directed by the Merchants and Manager to ensure the timely shipment of quality, trend right product. Develops strong customer service and working relationships with Agents, Buyer Vendors and other inter-departmental associates. Regularly shops all levels of stores including our own and competitors for fashion, trends, color direction and value. As a Product Development Intern, you will have the opportunity to work side by side with one of the following 5 roles on our team: • Designer • Product Development Specialist • Technical Designer • CAD Designer • SourcingThese roles will receive targeted supervision and guidance, but will also be provided a degree of creativity and autonomy. As a Product Development Intern at TJX, you will have the following growth opportunities: • Develop an understanding of the off price business model • Develop an understanding of the PD function and how it supports the business • Learn the process of designing creative and quality products with a customer mind set based on current market trend and void • Learn the Product Development Time and Action calendar and the process of coordinating the development process • Review samples received from vendors and assist with feedback against samples standards • Understand Product Development roles and work with PD leaders Please note: Placement in the above areas will be determined based on business need and candidate skillset.
Assist Product Development Specialists with day to day tasks which may include updating selling excel spreadsheets, setting up for meetings, tagging garments, filing swatches/ lab dips.
Weekly selling reports PLM Setting up for Trend meetings Using standards to decide if a color is suitable for production WIP reports Tagging TOPS Creating Yarn Boards Checking TOPS over to be sure they are acceptable for our standards Meeting with buyers Pulling samples for meetings
